Sixty Seven (67) establishments in the Cordillera Administrative Region responded to the invitation of the Regional Conciliation and Mediation Board-CAR (RCMB) for a learning session on DOLE programs and labor laws and regulations awareness.
The training entitled, “Ensuring Compliance to Regulations and Equality in the Workplace thru the Convergence Program was conducted on March 24, 2017 at the Opal Hall, Hotel Supreme, Magsaysay Avenue, Baguio City.
The activity was developed to provide the employers and employees from the private sector deeper understanding on the relevant regulations in the workplace which were often misinterpreted and ignored. It also aimed to prepare the participants to become more proactive in resolving issues/disputes arising from the non-compliance with the labor laws.
Following the regular topics embodied under the Administrative Order no. 47, s. 2015 were Labor Management Cooperation and Grievance Machinery, Family Welfare, Occupational Safety and Health, Labor Law Compliance System, Productivity and Employees Compensation Program.
In celebration of the Women’s Month, the gender equality, one of the ten (10) dimensions of the FWP was comprehensively discussed by a representative from the Department of Labor and Employment. Equality among men and women in the workplace in terms of promotion and benefits were emphasized. Also discussed were the Anti-Age discrimination and Special Leave Benefits for Women under RA 9710, otherwise known as the “Magna Carta of Women”. The other speakers expounded the latest updates of their respective programs.
Participants came from the BPOs, cooperatives, construction, education, hotel, restaurant and recreation, manufacturing, mining, and power generation companies.
The success of the assembly was made possible thru the teamwork of the Regional LMC Convergence Team.
