SN Aboitiz Power-Benguet, Inc. (SNAPBI)treated its stakeholders to a special tour of Ambuklao and Binga Hydroelectric Power Plants on November 9, 2016. This is to showcase their facilities and to give their patrons a first-hand experience on the features of the power plants. Engaged in the visit were DOLE, NCMB, NLRC,and PHILHEALTH.
The tour in the power plants ascertained the company’s strict compliance to the safetyand health standards of the Occupational Safety and Health Center – DOLE. SNAP’s power plants continuously implement programs such as transport safety, proper reporting of “unwanted occurrences”, conduct of safety talks during toolbox meetings, safety checks, and effective work system for the safe execution of work. The company also began implementing the Behavior Based Safety program.
Binga and Ambuklao plants have secured and maintained management system certifications on Occupational Health and Safety (OHSAS 1800), Quality (ISO 9001), Environment (ISO 14001), under an Integrated Management System. These assured the visiting team a feeling of security and protection, and relaxed mood while walking inside the underground tunnels of the plants.
For this year, SNAPBI received three regional awards from DOLE-CAR during the 10thGawadKaligtasan at Kalusugan (GKK) on June 28 in Baguio City. Again, the company bagged threeawards in the DOLE’s national GKK which will be accorded to them on November 18 at OSHC Complex Diliman, Quezon City, by the DOLE Secretary. Both Ambuklao and Binga Hydropower Plants won silver awards in the institutional category while SHESQ Sr. Manager Hollis Fernandez won the gold in the individual category.
SN Aboitiz Power-Benguet, Inc., a finalist in the 2015 Search for Outstanding LMC for Industrial Peace, is a joint venture between SN Power of Norway and Aboitiz Power.
