Baguio City. Regional Conciliation and Mediation Board – CAR (RCMB-CAR) and other attached agencies attended the first quarter DOLE Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) meeting on February 24, 2021, at the DOLE-CAR office, Baguio City.
Department of Labor and Employment – CAR (DOLE-CAR) Regional Director Nathaniel Lacambra presided over the meeting. Assistant Regional Director Sixto Rodriguez was also present in this meeting.
Regional Director Lacambra said, “I called up this meeting so that we will plan how can we converge in the implementation of our plans and programs for the remaining months of the year.” Each RCC member was asked to present their action plan.
RCMB-CAR Regional Branch Director Lourdes P. Estioco informed the group of the upcoming webinar on March 25, 2021. She said that this online seminar is in commemoration of the Women’s Day celebration.
Director Estioco also said that the branch will be conducting another webinar in July 2021. She asked the support of the RCC members to partake in this seminar. RD Lacambra assured to assist the Branch through the LMC Convergence of Programs. He even volunteered ARD Rodriguez to be the lead lecturer of the DOLE CAR, especially on updates on labor laws jurisprudence.
Ms. Margie F. Ungson of OWWA reported that the AKAP funds for 2020 have already been 100% disbursed while 2021 funds have still a balance of P4.5M. This AKAP fund is financial assistance for OFWs who are displaced due to the covid-19.
On the other hand, Mr. Dennis Lee of the Employees Compensation Commission apprised the RCC of their expanded coverage to include self-employed workers.
Director Lacambra suggested that the RCC TWG Secretariat shall get the concerns of RCC member agencies to be presented during the 2nd quarter meeting.
Regional Director Lacambra and ARD Sixto Rodriguez assumed their post at DOLE-CAR on February 1, 2021. Report by Cesar Cacayuran
