Mr. Jeffered C. Monang assumed as the new president of the Cordillera Association
of Labor-Management Cooperation and Advocates of Voluntary Arbitration
(CALMACAVAR) effective February 11, 2021. This was announced by the outgoing
president, Ms. Benelita S. Linmipao during the online meeting of the officers on
February 10.

Ms. Linmipao, who now handles a more delicate position in her company, expressed
her resignation as CALMACAVAR President. “Mr. Monang is more eligible for the
position, being the labor representative in the steering committee of our LMC. He
can easily relate to the Labor-Management Cooperation programs and projects of
the Association,” she said.

“It is with gratitude that I accept the responsibility bestowed on me as president of
CALMACAVAR. I know there are a lot of challenges ahead of us because of the
uncertainties brought about by these new normal changes. But I am confident that
with your support, we can hurdle all these obstacles and we can achieve the tasks
that are laid ahead of us,” he responded.

This move is supported by the Constitution and By-Laws of CALMACAVAR under
the provision on Succession which says, “In case of resignation, the member
company can appoint a representative to assume the vacated position.”

The officers were elected in 2018 and assumed their positions until 2020. However,
due to the COVID-19, their term of office was extended for another two years.
