As part of the Branch’s Green Our DOLE Program and in connection with Women’s Month Celebration, Regional Conciliation and Mediation Board-Cordillera Administrative Region underwent a Basic Life Support Training on March 3-4, 2016 at the Branch’s Conference Room.
The two-day activity provided by the Philippine National Red Cross-Baguio City Chapter aimed to equip the staff with knowledge, skills and confidence to perform aid management to a person whose breathing and heartbeat suddenly stopped.
Two trained first aiders, Messrs. Mark Allan Carreon and Allan Colt Lagasca, unabatingly explained the module’s composition. These are First Aid, Emergency Action Principles, Cardiac, Airway and Breathing Emergencies, Bleeding and Shock, Soft Tissue, Head and Spine, Bones, Joints and Muscles Injuries, Medical and Environmental Emergencies and finally, Lifting and Moving.
Given the complexity and rigidity of the sample cases, the mentors displayed suitable aid management for the participants to duplicate. Such administration includes bandaging, Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and finally, a simulation.
Simple as may sound, Basic Life Support training is essential and should be taken seriously. While not having to use it is good, it will come in handy in situations needing utmost attention.
The creation of the Branch’s First Aid Team concluded the drill.
