In its desire to promote industrial peace in the region, the Regional Conciliation and Mediation Branch-Cordillera Administrative Region, partnered with the Philippine Association of Detective and Protective Agency Operators (PADPAO)-CAR to address the growing number of labor-related cases in the city.  A virtual consultation was done earlier today.

Director Lourdes P. Estioco appreciated the support of the local PADPAO coordinator by reaching out to the Branch in the hopes of addressing the rising number of requests for assistance.  Ms. Estioco suggested the setting up of a Labor-Management Cooperation to address this concern.

Mr. Ronald Bahni, the local coordinator, agreed to an orientation.  He suggested that local-based agencies should be educated first as they are easier to gather.    Non-Baguio-based agencies operating in the City will be scheduled on a later date. Currently, there are fifteen (15) registered security agencies in Baguio City and Benguet province.

Being a security agency owner, Mr. Bahni recognized the importance of having workplace cooperation practices to minimize security guards from filing labor cases.  He pledged to provide the Branch with a list of agencies to be invited for the learning session.

The course of the consultation revealed problems encountered by agencies like compliance with various labor laws.   In answer, the Branch will converge with DOLE and other attached agencies to educate these companies to help them comply with the said labor laws.

Both consulting parties hope that this initiative is the first step in lowering down the number of requests filed against security firms.
