Itogon-Suyoc Resources, Inc. (ISRI) demonstrated their partnership and collaboration thru the conduct of a plant-level orientation seminar (PLOS).
On January 26-27, 2017, the RCMB-CAR conducted a basic orientation on Labor Management Cooperation (LMC) and Grievance Machinery-Voluntary Arbitration (GM-VA) at ISRI, Sangilo, Itogon, Benguet. The learning session was in response to the desire of the management to establish a mechanism that would further enhance their harmonious working relationship with the workers.
Resident Manager Michael G. Tauli challenged the 186 participants, “Our top management headed by Dr. Walter W. Brown expressed their full support in the formalization of our LMC. They believe that LMC will strengthen the bond between us, thus helps achieve our common goals. Let us make our LMC work,” he said.
With the large number of attendees from labor and management, the training was conducted in two batches. Topics on LMC, GM-VA, Conciliation and Mediation and SENA, and Labor Standards were discussed by Sup. LEO Maggie B. Balagtey, LEOs Gabriel P. Bayao, Alicia H. Bañares , and Dir. Gil G. Caragayan, respectively.
On November 9, 2016, the workers conducted their Certification Election (CE) administered by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE-CAR). Of the 138 voters, 75 workers voted “No” while 58 voted “Yes.” This eventually impelled management to propose the creation of their LMC to the workers.
