The National Conciliation and Mediation Board-CAR (NCMB-CAR), joined hands with the Office of the City Social Welfare and Development in the culminating activity of this year’s White Cane Safety Week which was held at SM City Baguio’s Event Center on August 9, 2016.  The event aims to raise awareness and sensitivity towards the differently abled individuals.

To further emphasize the value of the occasion, City Social Welfare and Development Officer Betty F. Fangasan encouraged the school and various organization heads to initiate series of activities, not just for the blind but to other physically challenged people as well.

In response, the City Mayor through Mr. Rafael Tallocoy, pledged that the City will support all endeavors Persons with Disabilities (PWD) groups will undertake.

A showcase of various talents were presented to keep the jolly mood alive.  Also, the awarding of sports festival winners added flavor to the activity.

Being a neophyte attendee to such junction, the Board became fully sensitive of the needs of PWDs and vowed to make it a yearly undertaking.  For this activity, NCMB shelled out snacks for the three hundred fifty participants.

Members of various people’s organizations, government and non-government organizations braved the rain to show their plethoric support.

The General Appropriations Act provides foothold for government agencies to formulate plans, programs and projects intended to address the concerns of PWDs.
