In early 2014, Ms. Marjorie Manipon, HR staff of SN Aboitiz Benguet, Incorporated visited the Branch to inquire about Labor Management Cooperation (LMC) since they wanted to be a part of the Department of Labor and Employment’s Incentivizing Compliance Program. The company was then aiming for the Tripartite Seal of Excellence having already a recipient of the Tripartite Certificate Compliance on Labor Standards. In answer to the request, the Branch’s technical staff conducted a basic orientation on LMC and Grievance Machinery (GM) on February 18, 2014. The company is a power generation located at Tinongdan, Itogon, Benguet with fifty-nine (59) workforce.
The LMC of the company called the KAIBIGAN came about after the conduct of a Plant Level Orientation Seminar (PLOS) and several interventions and plant visits. Kaibigan serves as a continuous feedback mechanism and regular communication link between the management and employees. It is composed of representatives from all departments and each is given responsibilities/tasks. Further, it is to aid the management conceptualize, explore and draw up plan of actions and recommend programs and activities to help increase productivity and improve working environment, serve as advocacy group in promoting and championing the core values of the company, and to act as Integrity Circle group which shall monitor and review to ensure integrity and work efficiency.
With its rich LMC practices, SNAPBI vied in the Regional Search for the Most Outstanding LMC for Industrial Peace in 2015 that meted them the Promising Labor Management Cooperation Practitioner. The company was awarded the Best in Corporate Social Responsibility in last year’s quest having been a consistent national finalist since its first attempt.
The stable linkage of the branch and SNAPBI continues to be of advantage to both as labor concerns or issues are readily addressed and observed.
