In line with one of the objectives of the Civil Service Commission which is to develop competent and credible civil servants, the Supervisory Development Course (SDC) was offered by the Commission to enhance the management skills of supervisors and would be supervisors in the government service.
This course was designed as a tool for first-line-supervisors in handling responsibilities, becoming better leaders , refining communication skills and in understanding themselves and their career.
SDC is consist of three tracks. Track 1 features modules on Personnel Effectiveness, Supervision and Organization Communication. Track 2 includes module on How to Spark Exceptional Performance and Making Meetings Productive. Track 3 covers modules on Making a Difference through leadership and Making Powerful Winning Presentations.
The training entailed lectures, supplemented by individual and group exercises to stimulate discussion among the participants and to reinforce learnings.
Both occupying supervisory positions in the Branch, Maggie B. Balagtey and Lyla B. Tacio, Supervising Labor Employment Officer and Administrative Officer IV, respectively completed the full course. Their SDC Track 1 was enrolled in May 23-26, 2017 and finally completed Tracks 2 and 3 on July 23-27, 2018 at the Newtown Hotel, Leonard Wood Road, Baguio City.
