With only four sessions, the University of the Cordilleras (UC) and the Kapatiran ng mga Empleyado ng UC-BCF (Kapatiran) concluded their 2017-2019 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) on November 8, 2017 at the Baguio Country Club. This set to benefit two hundred ninety two (292) teaching and non-teaching personnel.
Prelude to its signing, members of both panel headed by Atty. Renato S. Rondez and Mr. David Camiwet of the management and union, respectively, embroiled themselves to the thirteen primary proposals covered by the agreement. These issues were trimmed down to six until fervent negotiations left them with just two which were longevity and signing bonus.
A signing bonus amounting to Five Thousand Five Hundred (P5, 500.00) and across the board wage increases were the monetary benefits concluded which highlighted the negotiations.
This Mid-term CBA negotiation is the shortest in the history of UC and was concluded without the intervention of NCMB. The parties’ maturity, open mindedness and their willingness to walk an extra mile were attributed for the expeditious negotiation.
