Another Plant Level Orientation Seminar was conducted on August 6 as part of the Branch’s effort to promote the Board’s three program areas.  This time, a distributor of laundry detergents benefitted from the Branch’s aggressive drive to introduce the Board and its programs in as many companies as possible.

Sixty-two (62) employees, representing both the labor and the management, gathered for a one-day company orientation.  This is a milestone as it is the first time the company gathered all its employees since its operation started in 1990.

Ms. Lourdes P. Estioco, Regional Branch Director, led the technical unit in conducting the said learning session.  Personnel Maggie Balagtey and Lyla Jane B. Tacio each discussed the Grievance Machinery-Voluntary Arbitration (GM-VA) and Labor Management Cooperation (LMC), respectively.

The programs’ important features were thoroughly conveyed. LMC as a communication platform, together with its benefits to workers and management, was discussed in great detail. The response was positive as all committee members were in attendance.  Questions as to their roles and responsibilities as committee representatives were adequately answered through the presentation.

Introduced as an appeal mechanism, the company’s drafted Grievance Procedure was presented for review and discussion.  Supervising LEO Balagtey emphasized that both these programs are mechanisms aimed to address issues and concerns in the workplace. After the discussion, the LMC structure of Northstar was finalized and approved by its Operations Manager Mr. Renie L. Abenes.

Director Estioco concluded the Board’s sharing by challenging the participants to prepare an action plan that will serve as their guide in planning and conducting various programs and activities.

Mr.  Abenes expressed his appreciation to the Branch for their effort of organizing such training. Maraming salamat po sa tulong nyo,” he said.
